Volkswagen stands out in the industry as a car brand for its trendy styles of vehicles and the ease of use with the different models that are offered. The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and the 2017 Volkswagen Touareg are two popular models that are considered to be family-friendly for their spacious interiors and sleek exteriors.
Comfort
Both the Volkswagen Atlas and the Volkswagen Touareg offer plenty of seating space that makes it easy to stretch your legs out and relax while on the road. Notable differences include the space that is available between the two models. The Atlas seats seven people and the Touareg can seat five people. Approximately 32.1 cubic feet of storage space is available in the Touareg, and the Atlas offers 20.6 cubic feet behind the second row of seats.
The Atlas offers a sublime ride quality that is expected with Volkswagen models with a stiff structure that soaks up any bumps that you hit while on the road. It's predictable and secure, making it ideal for families. The cabin is also quiet and contributes to the polished interior setting.
The materials that are offered in the Touareg make the car competitive with luxury vehicles. It can include leather seats and has been touted as a step above other SUV models on the market. Each of the controls is easy to find on the dashboard with an efficient layout design that is used. It also includes upscale chrome and wood accents on the inside of the car.
Standard Vehicle Options
Both models include luxurious features that offer plenty of convenience and comfort. Both vehicles include heated front seats and illuminated vanity mirrors. They also offer Bluetooth compatibility when you want to continue talking on the phone or listening to music from your phone without compromising your focus while behind the wheel.
The Atlas also offers a 360-degree camera system, three-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a Fender-branded audio system. The Touareg also includes a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning with brake assist, lane departure warning, adaptive headlights, and front and rear parking sensors.
Performance
The Atlas has more trim options compared to the Touareg and the option of a 2.0L I-4 or 3.6L V-6 engine. The Touareg offers three different trims and comes with a standard 3.6L V-6 engine. The Touareg features an eight-speed automatic, and the Atlas is built with a six-speed engine, which influences the fuel-efficiency of each model.
