While the Atlas is branded as a family-friendly SUV, a first glance suggests otherwise. Stylish, powerful, and athletic, the Atlas can easily be a hip urban dweller's go-to vehicle. Strong enough to pull trailers and heavy loads, spacious enough to go camping on the weekend, and attractive enough to drive downtown, it's also a rugged up-for-anything vehicle. The Atlas belongs to the class of midsize SUVs, which is one of the most competitive and popular in 2019. This is good news for consumers, as automakers are adding on more bells and whistles than ever. This year, the Atlas features LED lights, a sophisticated all-wheel drive, and an optional V6 engine. Performance

When fully equipped, the Atlas can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Either the standard 2.0L turbo-charged engine or the 3.6L engine, which is a V6 engine, can provide ample towing power and all-around performance. The base engine can crank out up to 235 HP. It also reaches a maximum of 258 LB-FT of torque. This engine uses standard fuel. For a faster ride and more towing power, you have the option of upgrading to a larger and more powerful V6 engine. This 3.6L engine churns out just under 280 HP (276, to be exact) and 266 LB-FT of torque. Both engines are paired with an all-wheel drive drivetrain. A tow hitch package, which is available with select trim levels, makes towing safer and more secure. An eight-speed automatic transmission with a variety of driving modes makes every outing a personalized driving experience.

Interior

While the Atlas certainly catches your eye from the outside, the interior truly shines. On the inside, and especially at higher trim levels, the Atlas is packed with conveniences and amenities. You might not need all of them, but you'll certainly want to have them all on board. Some of the features that you'll find on your Atlas include remote start, keyless entry, and a push-button start. A tri-zone climate control keeps all passengers happy, while an auto-dimming rearview mirror makes it easier to see in all light conditions. Heated seats, leather seats, and a modern entertainment system with Bluetooth and optional satellite radio take the stress of commuting away. Multiple charging outlets and data ports keep your devices charged and ready for use.

Safety

You might not always see an accident coming. But the Atlas can, and it can even stop a collision before it strikes. Features like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection can save you from hitting objects on the road. In case you do crash, a fortified front end, advanced airbag system, and seatbelt pretensioners reduce the force of impact. A post-crash accident system provides assistance when you can't call for help. With all its safety amenities, it's no surprise the Atlas gets top-notch five-star safety ratings.
