While the Atlas edges out the Ascent in terms of total horsepower, both vehicles share a 5,000-lb. maximum towing capacity1,2. Interior
The inside of the vehicles is where they begin to show their differences a bit more, even though they both offer three rows of seating. While the 2025 Subaru Ascent provides 42.2, 38.6, and 31.7 inches of legroom in its three rows from front to back, the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas emphasizes passenger comfort with 41.7, 37.6, and 33.7 inches of space across the first, second, and third rows, respectively. The base model of the Atlas even includes perforated V-Tex leatherette upholstery on its first trim level, against which the Subaru can only muster its standard stain-resistant cloth upholstery.
Technology
Both vehicles provide impressive tech features to enhance your rides to Chinquapin Park playground, starting with the standard Volkswagen’s 12-inch center touchscreen display. While close, the Subaru comes equipped with a standard SUBARU STARLINK® 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus screen. Staying connected as you travel with your family and friends is a simple matter in either midsize SUV since they both have Wi-Fi hotspots for you to use 7,8.
