Since its debut in 1980, the Volkswagen Jetta has been a cornerstone of the compact sedan market, offering a winning combination of style, quality, safety, and value. For decades, this formula has made it VW's best-selling passenger car in North America. For 2025, the Jetta has undergone a comprehensive refresh that enhances its appeal.
Those updates include refined exterior styling, a revamped interior with new technology, and higher value for the money spent. The exterior shows off new front and rear end treatments, alongside updated wheel choices and colors that give the Jetta a more sophisticated appearance. Inside, the redesigned dashboard showcases a new floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (now standard across all trims). Despite these improvements, Volkswagen has lowered the starting MSRP for the automatic transmission edition. Volkswagen’s standard four-year or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty further enhances the Jetta's value. The automaker also includes two years or 20,000 miles of no-charge scheduled standard maintenance through the Carefree Maintenance Program.
Trims and Powertrain
The front-wheel-drive 2025 Jetta has four trim choices: S, Sport, SE, and SEL. They’re all powered by a 158-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. On a sad note for driving purists, the manual transmission has been dropped, so all trims now get an eight-speed automatic transmission. Most 2025 Jetta trims are EPA-rated for 29 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway; the exception is the Jetta S, which returns an estimated 39 mpg on the highway).
Standard Features
The base S gets fabric upholstery, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, two USB ports, and 16-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. It goes beyond the essentials with LED exterior lighting with automatic headlamps, an 8-inch instrument display, heated power side mirrors, rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Sport gets several enhancements, including heated front comfort seats, an upgraded front differential (for more dynamic cornering), an integrated front grille lightbar, a rear center armrest with trunk pass-through, stainless-steel pedal caps, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
The Volkswagen IQ.DRIVE system is standard across the 2025 Jetta range. These advanced driver-assist features consist of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, Travel Assist (steering, braking, and acceleration support) and Emergency Assist (semi-autonomous technology that can stop a vehicle if the driver is unresponsive). The SEL also gets automatic high beams.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The now-standard floating 8-inch touchscreen is the centerpiece of the 2025 Jetta’s infotainment system. The other standard multimedia features are App-Connect smartphone integration (USB; USB and wireless for the SE and SEL), Bluetooth, a multi-speaker audio system (for all but the highest trim), and access to myVW connected services. The SE and SEL have SiriusXM satellite radio, while just the SEL gets navigation and a BeatsAudio sound system.
