Having received several updates last year, the Volkswagen ID.4 enters 2025 with a winning combination
of style, capability, and value. VW skips the boxy approach of other compact crossovers by embracing
an aerodynamic exterior. The ID.4’s flowing lines give it a modern yet understated appearance that
leads to a welcoming interior for five. At the same time, the tech-focused cabin and a full suite of
advanced safety aids keep the driver informed and confident behind the wheel.
Available in
rear-wheel or all-wheel drive and several trims, the Tennessee-built ID.4 can be tailored in
numerous configurations. Meanwhile, ample cargo space and a range of almost 300 miles make it ideal
for daily driving or long-distance adventures. A standard 4-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper
warranty underscores the ID.4’s value. (This protection is on top of the 8-year/100,000-mile
high-voltage battery warranty.) VW also includes standard factory-scheduled maintenance (for 2 years
or 20,000 miles) and 500 kWh of free charging for three years at nationwide Electrify America
locations.
Trims and Powertrains
Buyers of the 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 can select from five trim levels: Pro, AWD Pro, Pro S, AWD Pro S, and
AWD Pro S Plus. The Pro and Pro S are rear-wheel drive (RWD) and have an 82 kWh battery connected to a
rear 210 kW electric motor making 282 horsepower. The AWD Pro, AWD Pro S, and AWD Pro S Plus get dual
electric motors, totaling 250 kW and a combined output of 335 horsepower.
The RWD Pro and Pro S
are rated for 291 miles of range, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) trims have a 263-mile capability. The
82 kWh battery can charge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes via Level 3/DC fast charging at peak
capacity (175-200 kW). The ID.4 offers ample cargo space, with 30.3 cubic feet behind the second row.
Standard Features
The well-equipped Pro has heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device
charging, fabric upholstery with leatherette bolsters, proximity keyless entry, ambient cabin lighting,
heated power side-view mirrors, LED exterior lighting with automatic headlamps, and a 5.3-inch digital
instrument display. It also gets a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, adjustable ambient
cabin lighting, rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, four USB
ports (two per row), and 19-inch alloy wheels. The AWD Pro adds a heated windshield, a trailer hitch,
and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The ID.4 goes more upscale with the Pro S, which has a panoramic fixed
glass roof, V-Tex leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats with massage, a
heated steering wheel, adaptive front lighting, a driver's memory system, additional exterior accent
illumination, upgraded adjustable ambient cabin lighting, and a rear seat with a center armrest and a
pass-through. The AWD Pro S includes a heated windshield and a trailer hitch. The top-of-the-range AWD
Pro S Plus comes with tri-zone automatic climate control, heated second-row outboard seats,
power-folding side mirrors with puddle lights, exclusive exterior accents, and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Every ID.4 trim has a rearview monitor, six airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and traction control. They also get IQ.Drive, a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems that consists of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, Travel Assist (semi-autonomous hands-on driving), Emergency Assist (the vehicle can stop on its own during a driver medical emergency), Park Assist Plus (with memory parking and rear parking sensors), traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. The AWD Pro S Plus also gets a surround-view monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.9-inch touchscreen is used to manage the infotainment features in the ID.4. The standard components are navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The lower trims are given an unbranded audio system while the AWD Pro S Plus upgrades to a 14-speaker Harman Kardon arrangement. All ID.4 trims are set up for subscription access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and connected services via Car-Net.
