2025 Volkswagen Atlas
The 2025 Volkswagen Atlas builds upon last model year’s comprehensive refresh, which brought a distinctly different exterior design, a more refined interior, and a stronger turbocharged engine. This Tennessee-built three-row midsized crossover continues to offer a winning combination of spaciousness, technology, and VW’s signature driving dynamics.
Numerous standard upscale features such as heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel also make the Atlas a good value. As an improvement for 2025, every trim is now set up with standard wireless device charging and automatic high beams. The top Atlas trim, the SEL Premium R-Line, is further upgraded with massaging front seats and perforated leather headrests.
Trims and Powertrain
The 2025 Atlas is offered in five trim packages: SE, SE with Technology, Peak Edition, SEL, and SEL Premium R-Line. Their powertrain pairs a 269-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard for the SE and SE with Technology, while all-wheel drive is available with these trims and included with the higher grades. When it’s properly equipped, the 2025 Atlas can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The Atlas boasts a maximum cargo capacity of 96.6 cubic feet when both rear rows are folded down. There is 55.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 20.6 cubic feet when there are passengers in all of the rows. For FWD Atlas has been officially rated by the EPA to achieve 20 mpg around town and 26 mpg on the open road. With AWD, the fuel economy is either 18 or 19 mpg in the city and 25 or 26 mpg on the highway. Regular unleaded fuel is recommended.
Standard Features
The Atlas SE is far from a base edition, thanks to an extensive roster of standard equipment that includes perforated V-Tex leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, three zones of automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver’s seat, wireless device charging, heated power side mirrors, LED exterior lighting (includes adaptive front lighting, cornering lamps, and automatic headlights), a heated leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, five-door proximity keyless entry, and Digital Cockpit Pro (a 10.25-inch customizable driver information display). It also has roof rails, variably intermittent rain-sensing windshield wipers, push-button ignition, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, six fast-charging USB ports, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The SE with Technology adds a hands-free power tailgate, illuminated front and rear light bars, a trailer hitch, a second-row 115-volt AC outlet, remote start, and 20-inch alloy wheels; it’s eligible for a power panoramic sunroof. The Peak Edition brings a power panoramic sunroof, exterior treatments that are specific to the trim, multi-color adjustable ambient cabin lighting, Peak Edition interior accents, brushed stainless-steel pedals, and 18-inch black-finished alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
The Volkswagen IQ.Drive suite of advanced driver aids is standard issue with every 2025 Atlas. Its technologies consist of forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, Travel Assist (semi-autonomous hands-on driving assistance), adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist (semi-automated support in a medical emergency), automatic high beams, and exit warning. All trims above the SE have both front and rear parking sensors. The SEL Premium R-Line also gets a surround-view monitor and semi-automatic parking support.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard in the Atlas. The base setup includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Access to MyVW connected services and a Wi-Fi hotspot also comes standard. The SEL and SEL Premium R-Line also receive navigation. A six-speaker audio system comes on all but the SEL Premium R-Line, which gets upgraded to a Harman Kardon system with 12 speakers.
