2024 Volkswagen Taos Maintenance Schedule
2024 Volkswagen Taos Maintenance
Volkswagen recommends that your 2024 Taos come in for a minor maintenance visit every 10,000 miles. Service may be required more frequently if you drive in severe climates or operate the vehicle under extreme conditions. During this first visit, the technicians will rotate the tires, change the engine oil and filter, and check the brake pads and rotors.
10,000-Mile Maintenance
Volkswagen recommends that your 2024 Taos come in for a minor maintenance visit every 10,000 miles. Service may be required more frequently if you drive in severe climates or operate the vehicle under extreme conditions. During this first visit, the technicians will rotate the tires, change the engine oil and filter, and check the brake pads and rotors.
20,000-Mile Maintenance
Since this is a 10,000-mile interval, your service visit will repeat everything from the first one. If your Taos is equipped with a sunroof, the drains must be cleaned and checked for any blockage (this task should be done every 20,000 miles or every 2 years).
30,000-Mile Maintenance
This will be another repeat of the basic 10,000-mile maintenance schedule.
40,000-Mile Maintenance
During this service, our technicians will perform the 20,000-mile interval tasks, including engine oil/filter change, sunroof drain cleaning, and tire rotation. This is also the time to replace the dust and pollen filter (every 40,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first).
50,000-Mile Maintenance
With another basic service due, your Taos will get its engine oil and filter changed, along with a tire rotation.
60,000-Mile Maintenance
This interval of 20K miles calls for another service consisting of engine oil/filter change and tire rotation, as well as sunroof drain cleaning. Volkswagen also recommends replacement of the engine air filter be replaced and cleaning of the filter’s screen.
70,000-Mile Maintenance
As with the other intervals of 10K miles, the tires will be rotated and the engine oil/filter will be changed.
80,000-Mile Maintenance
Once again, our VW techs will repeat the basic service (engine oil/filter change and tire rotation), along with the sunroof drain cleaning. The dust and pollen filter should also be replaced at this visit. The 80K-mile mark also means it’s time for fresh spark plugs (every 80,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first). and fresh transmission fluid.
90,000-Mile Maintenance
The 90K milestone calls for a simple tire rotation required and engine oil/filter change.
100,000-Mile Maintenance
As much of a milestone as 100K miles is, the service visit is simple: just a repeat of the 20,000-mile tasks of an engine oil/filter change and tire rotation. Once again, if your Taos has a sunroof, the drains must be cleaned at this visit.
110,000-Mile Maintenance
Volkswagen only recommends an engine oil and filter change, plus a tire rotation.
120,000-Mile Maintenance
Volkswagen recommends a more extensive maintenance visit at this point – essentially a combination of the 40,000- and 60,000-mile services, consisting of these items:
- Tire rotation
- Engine oil and oil filter change
- Cleaning of the sunroof drains
- Replacement of the engine air filter (and screen cleaning)
- Replacement of in-cabin dust/pollen filter
After 120,000 Miles & Time-Based Services
Volkswagen has several other recommendations beyond these services, some with mileage intervals and others based on time. Here’s a quick summary:
- Replace coolant pump toothed belt – every 180,000 miles
- Change brake fluid – after the first 3 years, and then every 2 years
- Change AWD clutch fluid (if so equipped) – every 3 years
Otherwise, drivers should continue following the recommended guidelines previously outlined at the appropriate times.
Regular Inspections (Every Visit)
Our technicians will perform a multipoint inspection on your Taos during every service visit. Depending on its odometer reading, most or all of the following systems and components will be looked at.
- Brake pad thickness
- Interior lights
- Tire tread/wear
- Sliding sunroof (if equipped)
- Battery
- Windshield
- Exterior lighting
- Horn
- Brake fluid levels
- Wiper blades/windshield washer fluid
- Suspension check (ball joints, stabilizer bar, springs, struts, coupling rod, axle bearings, etc.)
- Cooling system
- Exhaust system
- Transmission fluid
- Underbody
- Steering system
By adhering to this manufacturer-recommended schedule, you will get many years of enjoyable driving out of your 2024 Taos. If you have any questions about maintaining your vehicle, feel free to contact the Service Department at Pohanka Volkswagen.
