2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI Trims
Punchy performance must be your thing, or you wouldn’t be reading this page on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI. This sprightly hot-hatch boasts a powerful 241-horsepower turbocharged engine, an engaging six-speed manual gearbox, and mechanical upgrades that ramp up the fun factor. Despite this long-beloved model’s clear popularity, Volkswagen has decided to end production of the Golf GTI after model year 2024. To commemorate its significant run, there’s a special stickshift-only 380 equipment set offered as an upgrade to each trim package. This page presents the most noteworthy features of the three main trims, with and without the 380 add-on.
S
The entry-level S boasts cloth upholstery with classic VW plaid inserts, heated front sport seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, single-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, push-button start, 30-color ambient interior lighting, and a 60/40-split rear seatback with a folding center armrest. On its exterior, the S is equipped with rain-sensing windshield wipers, a sport-tuned suspension, a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, automatic LED headlights with dynamic range control, LED fog lights with low-speed cornering lights, heated washer nozzles, heated power-folding side mirrors with position memory and passenger-side tilt-down, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The optional 380 upgrade will add an adaptive damping system, gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels with summer performance tires, a six-speed manual transmission, and black exterior accents.
This base trim’s tech amenities include a wireless phone charger, a configurable 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster (Digital Cockpit Pro), and four USB-C ports (two data and two charging). An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and a six-speaker audio setup is also standard. For safety, the S features the IQ.Drive suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection (Front Assist), front and rear parking sensors, lane keeping assist (Lane Assist), semi-automated driving assist (Travel Assist), and driver attention monitoring (Emergency Assist).
SE
The SE builds on the S trim’s list of standard equipment with a panoramic sunroof, an integrated front-end light bar, and dynamic road sign display. In other upgrades, it gets the advanced Discover Pro infotainment system, which includes a 10-inch touchscreen, navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, and a premium nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Like the S, the SE is eligible for the 380 upgrade. This optional package includes an adaptive damping system, gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels with summer performance tires, a six-speed manual transmission, and black exterior accents.
Autobahn
The Autobahn is the top-of-the-line Golf GTI, adding leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, heated outboard second-row seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, automatic high beams (Light Assist), an adaptive damping system, and 19-inch alloy wheels with summer performance tires. With the elective 380 upgrade, the Autobahn will get a six-speed manual transmission and black exterior accents.
