2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport for Sale or Lease in Capitol Heights
2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
Volkswagen broke new ground when it launched the Atlas crossover in 2018 with characteristics and features well-suited to the American market. The German automaker again blazed a new trail with the introduction of the two-row Atlas Cross Sport. For 2024, this Tennessee-built SUV benefits from a comprehensive update, including a new powerplant for the engine bay.
Its exterior has been significantly restyled, led by a more prominent front end with revamped headlights. In the back, the distinctive fastback-style tailgate is complemented with a fresh taillight treatment. Of course, Volkswagen hasn’t ignored the interior. In addition to refreshing the spacious five-seat cabin, they’ve packed in more standard features. Every 2024 Atlas Cross Sport now comes with sought-after features like a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and adaptive cruise control.
Under the hood, all editions get a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with horsepower similar to last year’s V6 but better fuel economy. The base four-cylinder from 2023 has been dropped.
Trims and Powertrain
The five 2024 Atlas Cross Sport trims are SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line. While front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard with both SE trims, all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional and included in the higher versions. A 269-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is standard across the range; it works with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The EPA-estimated fuel economy for the FWD version of the Atlas Cross Sport is 20 mpg around town and 27 mpg on the open road. AWD changes those ratings to 19 city/26 highway. When they’re properly equipped, most trims can tow up to 5,000 pounds (2,000 pounds for the SE). The maximum cargo volume is 77.6 cubic feet behind the front row, or 40.3 cubic feet when all seats are in use.
Standard Features
The SE’s long list of standard features includes heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, V-Tex leatherette upholstery, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar controls, a 10.25-inch configurable digital cockpit, a wireless device charge pad, heated power side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, multiple fast-charging USB ports, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SE with Technology adds a hands-free liftgate, remote start, illuminated light bars and emblems (front and rear), a trailer hitch, and 20-inch alloy wheels. A panoramic sunroof is optional.
The standard upgrades for the SEL include the panoramic sunroof, Vienna leather upholstery, a driver's position memory system, an eight-way power front passenger seat, a head-up display, heated second-row outboard seats, ambient cabin lighting, and heated headlight washers. The SEL R-Line adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and R-Line exterior and interior styling treatments. The SEL Premium R-Line goes one step further with heated power side mirrors with power-folding functionality and 21-inch alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Tech
Volkswagen's IQ.Drive, a sophisticated array of driver-assist features, is standard in every 2024 Atlas Cross Sport. It bundles forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian detection), lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, semi-autonomous driving assistance, adaptive cruise control, and exit warning. The SE with Technology and above get front and rear parking sensors, while the SEL and higher trims receive automatic high beams and road sign display. A surround-view monitor and semi-automatic parking support are exclusive to the SEL Premium R-Line. All trims also get multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch touchscreen is the infotainment nerve center for all Atlas Cross Sport trims. It’s used to manage Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Also standard are wireless device charging and access to myVW connected vehicle services and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Navigation is included on the SEL and above. The SEL Premium R-Line gets a Harman Kardon sound system, while the other trims have a more basic six-speaker audio system.
