2024 Volkswagen Atlas for Sale or Lease in Capitol Heights
2024 Volkswagen Atlas
Redesigns are always big news, and VW has been hard at work on improving the Atlas for model year 2024. The biggest part of the update is a stronger and more efficient engine, a four-cylinder with a fresh turbocharger that replaces the previous generation’s 3.6-liter V6. The exterior shows off updated headlights and an improved front fascia as well as new wheel designs, such as 21-inch R-Line wheels that especially stand out. Volkswagen has made all Atlas trims more comfortable in extreme temperatures, as even the base trim now gets a standard heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats. There’s also a new trim called the Peak Edition, which is distinguished by an extra degree of ruggedness.
This full-sized SUV offers space for up to seven with supportive seating and plenty of room for their belongings. Plus, every Atlas is equipped with the IQ.DRIVE suite of advanced safety technologies. VW also includes Carefree Coverage for two years or 20,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance and three years or 36,000 miles or free roadside assistance.
Trims and Powertrains
VW offers the 2024 Atlas in five trims: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, Peak Edition, and SEL Premium R-Line. All have the debuting 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which pumps out 269 horsepower and forms the powertrain with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The SE and SE with Technology) or available 4MOTION all-wheel drive (standard with SEL, Peak Edition, and SEL Premium R-Line). When it’s properly equipped, the new Atlas can tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds.
The SE and SE with Technology get front-wheel drive by default, but they’re eligible for 4MOTION all-wheel drive, which the SEL, Peak Edition, and SEL Premium R-Line get standard. When it’s properly equipped, the 2024 Atlas can tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds.
The EPA estimates the fuel economy of the FWD Atlas at 20 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway. With 4MOTION, the Atlas SE and SE with Technology are rated to achieve 19 city/26 highway, while the AWD-only SEL and SEL Premium R-Line see their highway rating dip slightly to 25 mpg. The Peak Edition, with the extra weight of its specialized features, returns 18 city/24 highway.

Upgrading to the SE with Technology adds remote engine start, a 115V power outlet in the second row, a hands-free remote power rear liftgate, a trailer hitch, and 20-inch alloy wheels. With this model, second-row captain’s chairs can be elected to improve comfort while reducing capacity to six. There’s also a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof offered as an option. The SEL gets the tilt/slide panoramic sunroof as a standard feature along with leather upholstery, an 8-way power-adjustable passenger seat with lumbar support, a head-up display, heated second-row outboard seats, multi-color adjustable ambient lighting, and silver roof rails.
The Peak Edition is visually distinct on the outside with its extra cladding, a silver front fascia, silver underbody cladding, a gloss-black “X” stretching along the lower fascia, two chrome strips on the blacked-out grille, Peak Edition badging, and 18-inch alloy wheels. It’s also the only trim for which Avocado Green and Pure Gray are offered as paint colors. Its cabin has Titan Black leatherette seats stitched in contrasting orange with inserts featuring a black metallic check pattern; the steering wheel displays the Peak Edition logo. The top trim, the SEL Premium R-Line, brings perforated Vienna leather on the seating and steering wheel, unique R-Line exterior styling, power-folding side mirrors, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE system comes standard to furnish every ’24 Atlas with adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, rear traffic alert, an exit warning system, travel assist, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear seat alert, and lane departure warning.
